The Romanian Court of Accounts is currently holding in Bucharest the VAT Working Group, which operates under the patronage of the Contact Committee – a structure within which cooperation between the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the European Union and the European Court of Auditors (ECA) takes place.
“We are actively participating in the exchange of experience on how the VAT system works in the EU Member States and we expect that the Working Group’s analytical objectives will add value to our joint work. By promoting cooperation in the field of VAT audit, including by assessing the effectiveness of anti-fraud policies carried out by Member States and the European Commission, it is obvious that we will all have something to gain, both in terms of the efficiency of revenue collection to national budgets and in the objective of the common VAT policy,” said Mihai Busuioc, President of the Court of Accounts.
Representatives of the European Commission and ECA, external public auditors from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, as well as public finance officials from Romania will take part in the works.
