ZAGREB, 15 May (Hina) – Croatia’s annual inflation rate stood at 5.8% in April, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) confirmed on Friday in its second estimate, while the monthly inflation rate was revised upwards from 1.5% to 1.6%.

Consumer prices measured by the national Consumer Price Index were on average 5.8% higher in April 2026 than in April 2025, and 1.6% higher than in March 2026.

On an annual basis, the sharpest price increases were recorded in transport (+13.1%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+12.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.6%), and restaurants and accommodation services (+6.2%).

Prices for personal care, social protection and various goods and services rose by 4.6%, healthcare by 4.2%, recreation, sport and culture by 4.1%, insurance and financial services by 3.7%, information and communication by 3.3%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2.8%.

The rise in consumer prices was partly offset by lower prices for clothing and footwear (-3.1%), and education services (-1.7%).

On a monthly basis, the biggest increases were recorded in clothing and footwear (+6.9%), and transport (+4.9%).

At the same time, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as well as household furnishings, equipment and routine household maintenance, fell by 0.1% month on month.

Measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, inflation in April stood at 5.4% year on year and 1.4% month on month.
