ZAGREB, 1 Oct (Hina) – The inflation rate in Croatia, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, was 1.6% in September 2024 on an annual basis, while compared to August 2024, prices were 0.3% up, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said in its flash estimate on Tuesday.
Inflation thus continued its downward trend, which has been uninterrupted since September 2023.
The year-on-year inflation rate in September was lower than the year-on-year inflation rate in August (1.8%), July (2.2%) and June (2.4%).
Broken down by main components of the index, the estimated annual inflation rate was 6.2% for services, 3.2% for food, beverages and tobacco, and 0.6% for industrial non-food products excluding energy, while the rate for energy decreased by 7.3%.
Compared with August 2024, the prices of industrial non-food products excluding energy rose by 2.9%, and those of food, beverages and tobacco by 0.2%. At the same time, the prices of energy decreased by 2.0%, and those of services by 0.7%.
The DZS said it would publish the final data on 16 October.
Eurostat: Croatia’s September inflation at 3.0%
According to the flash estimate published by Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in Croatia in September 2024, as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), was 3.0%.
In the euro area, the average annual inflation rate in September 2024 was 1.8%.
Higher inflation rates than Croatia’s were recorded in Belgium (4.5%), the Netherlands (3.3%) and Estonia (3.2%). Greece had the same inflation rate as Croatia while the inflation rates of other euro area countries were lower than Croatia’s.
