Dubrovnik is among the top 10 most popular summer destinations for family holidays included on this year’s global list of the Booking.com travel platform.

The list was compiled on the basis of a survey carried out in July 2023 on a sample of nearly 28,000 adults from 33 countries across the world who planned to travel for business or leisure in the next 12 to 24 months. Among them were about 500 respondents from Croatia.

Dubrovnik ranked eighth. Durrаs (Albania) topped the list, ahead of Tangier and Marrakech (Morocco), Destin (Florida, USA), Sevilla and Palma de Mallorca (Spain), and Tokyo (Japan). Dubrovnik was followed by Madrid (Spain) and Bangkok (Thailand).

Booking.com said that searches for family accommodation for the summer travel season in 2024 have increased by 8% compared with 2023, while flight searches globally have gone up by as much as 21%. These figures underscore a strong interest in travel this summer.

“Almost two-thirds (62%) of families rank spending quality time as the main motivator for traveling this year, followed by finding the time to properly relax (58%), and discovering new places (48%).

“Family motivators for travel play nicely to this summer’s trending spots, which includes destinations famed for their scenic beaches, exquisite local cuisine and enriching opportunities for cultural immersion,” Booking.com said.
