ZAGREB, 23 May (Hina) – Strategic defence documents were reviewed and a draft Defence Strategy and a draft Long-Term Development Plan for the Armed Forces for the period 2025 to 2036 were adopted at a session of the Defence Council held on Friday at President Zoran Milanović’s office.
Alongside the adoption of the drafts, a decision was made to submit the documents into the legally prescribed adoption procedure, it was said by the president’s office and the government.
In accordance with the Defence Act, the session of the Defence Council was jointly convened by Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
All members of the Defence Council attended the session: Milanović, Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković, Plenković, Defence Minister Ivan Anušić, Finance Minister Marko Primorac, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces -Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, the chair of the parliamentary Defence Committee – Arsen Bauk, and the president’s defence adviser Ivica Olujić.
The Defence Council coordinates the bodies of state authority to harmonise positions and adopt conclusions and recommendations in the field of defence.
