Croatian language and culture department being opened at Regensburg University

ZAGREB, 5 July (Hina) – The Croaticum – Centre for Croatian Language and Literature is being opened at the University of Regensburg, Germany on Wednesday as the first Croatian language and culture department in a German-speaking country, the Ministry of Science and Education announced.
Opening the first Croaticum in German-speaking countries is a historic milestone in teaching the Croatian language as part of Slavic studies in German-speaking countries, the Ministry said.
The opening ceremony is due to be attended by Croatian Science and Education Minister Radovan Fuchs and Rolf-Dieter Jung of the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Arts.
“We are confident that this new institution will contribute to the cooperation between Germany, Bavaria and Croatia in all areas. This is the Centre for Language and language is the key to cooperation in all areas,” Fuchs said.
