ZAGREB, 8 June (Hina) – Croatian businesses recorded a consolidated net profit of €10.3 billion in 2025, up 4.1% from 2024, Fina reported on Monday.
Of 166,052 businesses, 112,777 (68%) made a profit totalling €13.6 billion, while 53,275 (32%) reported a loss of €3.3 billion.
Compared with 2024, businesses recorded an 8.7% increase in profit for the period, alongside a 26.2% rise in losses. This resulted in a consolidated net profit of €10.3 billion, up 4.1% year-on-year, from €9.9 billion in 2024.
Total revenues rose 9.3% to €183.5 billion, with expenses up 9.7% to €171.1 billion.
A total of 27,501 businesses (16.6%) sold their goods and services abroad, generating €36.9 billion in exports, up 11.6% from 2024, and achieving a trade surplus of €5.2 billion.
Average monthly net salary €1,307, up 10.5%
Employment grew 3.2% to 1,078,579 workers, with average net monthly wages of €1,307 (+10.5% year-on-year).
In 2025, 13,826 businesses (8.3%) invested €5.4 billion in new long-term assets, an increase of 3.7% compared with the previous business period, Fina said.
The largest number of businesses, 26,492, were registered in professional, scientific and technical activities, generating total revenues of €8.3 billion. The manufacturing sector employed the most people, 235,749, and also recorded the highest net profit, €2.5 billion, a 33.7% increase compared with 2024.
By size, micro businesses dominate (148,703; 89.6%), followed by small (14,976), medium (1,954)В and large (419) firms.
INA generates highest revenue, Pliva highest profit
All four business size categories posted net profits last year: micro businesses €1.9 billion, small businesses €2.7 billion, medium €2 billion, and large €3.7 billion.
By region, businesses based in Zagreb dominated, with 54,075 registered businesses (32.6% of the total). Revenues grew most in Vukovar-Srijem County (29%), net profit rose the most in Zagreb County (102% YoY), and Brod-Posavina County saw the largest employment growth (16.5%).
Top performers in 2025 were the INA oil company, with €3.8 billion in revenue, and the pharmaceutical company Pliva Hrvatska, with €199.4 million in profit, Fina reported.
