A 52-year-old Communion and Liberation educator accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at a retreat in Rimini earlier this year was named Saturday as Andrea Davoli.

As well as being an educator for the lay Catholic activist group, Davoli was also a religious education teacher in a high school in Reggio Emilia, sources said.

He had suspended himself when police started probing the case in June.

Davoli is accused of abusing the girl more than once and in the province of Reggio as well as Rimini, police said.
