The Buzau County Council will organize on July 6 the first edition of the cycling tourism event Lady Neaga’s Trail (named after a late 16th – early 17th century local noblewoman who married into the ruling family), which invites tourists to discover sites such as the Bradu Monastery, the Cislau Stud Farm, or writer Vasile Voiculescu’s memorial house.
According to the County Council release, a noteworthy aspect is that along the route the travelers will be able to enjoy short artistic moments that highlight local traditions and customs.
“Apart from the open air exercising, the initiative promotes everything related to the county’s tourist routes. This is not a cycling race, it’s a bicycle tour of certain sightseeing sites in the county… The participation requirements are quite simple, there’s a minimum age criterion of 16 years, the technical conditions, medical assistance, safety conditions will all be ensured,” declared County Council president Petre Emanoil Neagu.
The circuit stretches over a distance of 101 km, with an elevation gain of 1,260 m, and the travel time is estimated at 8-9 hours.
“We estimate some 100 people will participate. Type of bike: road bike, gravel, mountain bike, trekking, electric. Single speed or city bikes are not recommended. Municipal bikes, electric mopeds or scooters are not allowed. Travel is done in compact assisted peloton. The tourist attractions along the route and which will be showcased are: the Bradu Monastery, the Old Church and Lady Neaga’s tomb at Buda Craciunesti, the Cislau Stud Farm, the Vasile Voiculescu Memorial House in Parscov, the ‘Geogate’ Visiting Center in Satuc, Berca,” the release states.
