CBCG: Banks’ liquid assets €1.49 billion

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the statistics released by the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the average liquid assets of Montenegrin banks decreased by 5.94 percent in October to €1.49 billion.

Compared with the corresponding period in 2024, the average liquid assets decreased by 1.20 percent in October.

The liquidity index of the banking system was above the required minimum in this period.

At the end of October, the combined balance of all banks amounted to €7.72 billion, 0.25 percent less than in September, and 10.27 percent more than in the same period in 2024.

In the overall structure of banks’ assets, the highest share was that of loans at 67.88 percent, securities at 17.09 percent, and cash and deposits with central banks at 11.56 percent, while other categories of assets accounted for 3.47 percent.

In the overall structure of liabilities, deposits had the highest share of 78.71 percent, followed by capital and loans at 12.84 percent and 4.15 percent, respectively. Other categories of liabilities accounted for the remaining 4.30 percent.

At the end of October, total bank capital amounted to €991.4 million, down 0.57 percent from September but up 9.87 percent year on year.
