Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Alternative Montenegro has called on citizens not to buy anything from megastores on Friday and Saturday.
“Citizens, enough is enough. Friday and Saturday, a general boycott of megastores. If you need basic groceries, buy them from small, local markets. Let’s support those who stand with us, not those who are robbing us,” reads a statement on posted Alternative Montenegro’s Facebook account.
According to the NGO, prices in Montenegrin megastores are skyrocketing, preventing wage increases from making a real difference.
“Every day we witness unprecedented price hikes for basic products, while the owners of large chains are amassing profits at the expense of the people. It’s time to say – enough. This is the voice of the people. If we don’t stop this arrogance now, tomorrow we will be paying for bread with gold. Montenegro is rising against greed. Together, united, determined,” Alternative Montenegro stated.
Supermarkets and stores were boycotted across the country last Friday, also at the call of Alternative Montenegro.
