Bulgaria’s Education Minister, North Macedonia’s Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Enhancing cooperation between universities and research organizations and joining EU priority initiatives such as the European Universities alliances were among the topics discussed here by Bulgaria’s Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov and the Republic of North Macedonia’s Ambassador Agneza Rusi Popovska, Tzokov’s Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Dobrina Ivancheva, a twelfth-grade student at Alphonse de Lamartine French Language School in Sofia, was a special guest at the Education Ministry. She was given the opportunity to participate in a diplomatic meeting after being awarded in the Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador for a Day essay competition.

During the meeting, the sides discussed policies aimed at students and PhD students from North Macedonia. The joint research projects of scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts were highlighted, including those funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund and the Horizon 2020 framework programme.

The sides agreed on the need to deepen and build on the bilateral educational and scientific ties within the framework of Bulgaria and North Macedonia’s education and science programme for the period 2022-2025.
