Bulgaria will open its stand at the London Book Fair for the third consecutive year with presentations of books about Bulgarian Antarctic explorers and about Bulgarian Antarctic Institute Chair Christo Pimpirev, Bulgarian Book Association Board Deputy Chair Gergana Dimitrova told the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) on Monday.
On Monday, Sofia Gallery at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute at the Bulgarian Embassy in London will host the presentation of the book Antarctica – History, Nature, Bulgarian Polar Explorers by Christo Pimpirev and Iglica Trifonova, as well as Trifonova’s book Christo Pimpirev: Antarctic Hitchhiker. BTA Director General Kiril Valchev will take part in the discussion during the book presentation. Kaval performer and composer Theodosii Spassov will also participate in the event.
Valchev will present at the London Book Fair all English-language editions of BTA’s LIK magazine: Bulgaria in UNESCO, Christo and Jeanne-Claude at 90 in Eternity, Bulgaria at the World Expos, LIK at 60 Years, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at 155, Bulgarian Science in Antarctica, Bulgarian Footprint in Space, To Antarctica and Back under a Bulgarian Flag, The Voice of Bulgarians in Ukraine, as well as the special edition New BG WINE Leads the Way and the book about the history and archives of the national agency, 125 Years Bulgarian News Agency. On March 10, a discussion titled Satire in Post-1989 Europe will be held with Bulgarian publisher and editor Svetlozar Zhelev and British journalist Rosie Goldsmith, Director of the European Literature Network, along with a presentation of Pimpirev and Trifonova by Valchev, with the participation of Spassov.
Also on Tuesday, a discussion between Goldsmith, Istros Books Director Susan Curtis, and Bulgarian publisher and editor Svetlozar Zhelev, titled Satire in Post-1989 Europe, will take place at Hatchards Bookshop.
On March 11, Sofia Gallery will host the presentation of the book A Short Anthology of Contemporary Bulgarian Authors in the United Kingdom, compiled and edited by Georgi Nikolov.
