Bulgaria Air Ranked Among Top Five Airlines in Eastern Europe

Bulgaria Air has been ranked among the top five airlines in Eastern Europe in the 2026 World Airline Awards by the international organization Skytrax, according to the organization’s website. The national carrier ranks fourth in the region, marking a significant improvement compared with its position in 2025.

The World Airline Awards are based on passenger ratings from different countries and markets and cover key elements of the overall travel experience — airport and onboard service, cabin comfort, the quality of services offered, and the attitude of airline crews.

The top five airlines in Eastern Europe are led by Latvia’s AirBaltic, followed by Air Serbia, Georgian Airways, and Romania’s national carrier TAROM.

Globally, Singapore Airlines was named the world’s best airline for 2026, followed by Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific.

For Europe as a whole, Turkish Airlines ranks first. Other airlines in the ranking include Air France, which was also named the best carrier in Western Europe, Lufthansa, and Iberia.

Qatar Airways tops the ranking for the Middle East, Air Canada for North America, LATAM for South America, and Copa Airlines for Central America and the Caribbean.

Bulgaria Air is the flag carrier airline of Bulgaria, beginning operations on December 4, 2002, as a successor to Balkan Bulgarian Airlines.
