Deputy Prime Minister for Education, Science and Relations with Religious Communities, Budimir Aleksic, said that it is in everyone’s interest to continue the dialogue on the education workers’ salaries and reach a solution in favor of educators.

According to the press release from his office, Aleksic met with the representatives of the Education Trade Union (SPCG), led by President Radomir Bozovic.

The two sides discussed the current situation in the education sector and the consequences of the new, centralized salary calculation system, which will result in a reduction in the salaries for a significant number of education employees.

“SPCG representatives informed Aleksic about the actions taken to prevent the salary cuts, as well as the measures that the Union plans to protect the rights of its members”, the press release says.

The SPCG representatives asked Aleksic to “use his personal authority to advocate with Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and Minister of Education Andjela Jaksic Stojanovic to resume social dialogue, which has been absent for past 15 days”.
