After Eni and IP, Q8 says it will cap fuel prices in Italy

Kuwait’s Q8 company said Tuesday that it will set caps on fuel prices at its gas stations in Italy, following the leads of Italian State-owned energy giant Eni and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR with its IP chain.
Fuel prices have risen sharply in recent months due to the impact of the Iran war.
“I thank Kuwait and the group that controls Q8 facilities in Italy for responding to the Italian Government’s call for energy companies to cap fuel prices,” Premier Giorgia Meloni said in a statement.
“Following the decisions by Eni and SOCAR, today Q8 has also sent an important signal of support for Italian households.”.
On Monday Eni’s cap limiting prices at €2.19 per litre for diesel and €1.99 for unleaded petrol came into force.
The business and made in Italy ministry (MIMIT) said Tuesday that the average price of a litre of unleaded petrol at a self-service pump was 2.126 euros, down from 2.159 on Sunday, and the average price of a litre of diesel was 2.335 euros, down from 2,377.
On September 16 Giorgia Meloni’s government extended the diesel duty cut to October 5 designed to help with soaring fuel prices, but lowered it from 17 cents a litre to 12.2 cents and then to 6.1 cents.
