The acting government has increased the allowances for new mothers, as announced in the executive meeting on Thursday, June 5.
For unemployed mothers, the allowance has been increased from €170 for six months to €325.9. Meanwhile, for employed mothers, in addition to the 70% payment for six months from the employer, they will also receive support for the first three months after childbirth in the amount of €319.5.
“Since we now have the new minimum wage, it is time for this to be reflected in the allowances for new mothers… we will approve the monthly increase in allowances from €170 to €325.9, which is the net value of the new minimum wage. For all new mothers, starting this month, the monthly allowance will increase to €325.9. This represents an increase of 91.7%, or nearly a doubling of the allowances,” said the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
“In addition, today we will approve the reference average wage, which serves for the calculation of the three-month payment at the level of 50% of the average wage, which is the government’s obligation for each employed mother. Besides the 70% payment for six months from the employer, employed mothers will receive additional support for another three months from the government in the amount of €319.5, which is 50% of the minimum wage,” he added.
