Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Monstat, there were 317,200 active citizens in Montenegro in this year’s third quarter, 89.9 percent or 285,300 of whom were employed.

In this period, 31,900 or 10.1 percent of the total number of active citizens were unemployed.

Compared with the previous quarter, the number of employed people increased by 2.2 percent, while there were 2.4 percent fewer unemployed people.

Monstat’s workforce survey shows that 170,600 or 53.8 percent of the active population are men, while 146,600 or 46.2 percent are women.

Most of the employed individuals belong to the age group from 25 to 49, totalling 174,600 employed people. Similarly, the largest number of unemployed individuals also belong to the same age group, totalling 19,600 unemployed people,” stated a press release issued by the Statistical Office.

The survey is based on a sample of 1,700 households.
