29,000 more pension-insured persons at end-June than a year ago

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) had 1,768,228 insured persons on record at the end of June 2025, an increase of 29,004 or 1.7% compared with the same month last year, according to preliminary data published on Tuesday.

The number of insured persons at the end of June was up by 87,414, or 5.2%, compared with 30 June 2023, and by 127,458 or 7.8% compared with June 2022, according to the announcement on the HZMO’s website.

The number of insured persons is an indicator of the level of employment.

According to HZMO data, the highest number of insured persons by sector at the end of June 2025 was recorded in manufacturing (249,089), wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (241,268), construction (150,997), and hospitality and tourism (141,292).

Compared with the same period last year, the largest increases in the number of insured persons were recorded in other service activities (15,936), education (6,605), real estate activities (4,070), and human health and social work activities (3,798).

As of the end of June this year, there were 63,008 insured persons in other service activities, 127,406 in education, 20,769 in real estate activities, and 120,690 in health and social care.

Compared with figures from June 2023, the number of insured persons in other service activities increased by 18,945. Positive growth was also recorded in construction, up by 15,734, and in education, up by 8,745, the HZMO said.
