World Peace Forum held in Baia Mare, a premiere in Southeastern Europe

Baia Mare Mayor Catalin Chereches declared it was an honour for his northeastern Romania city to host the World Peace Forum 2015 over May 7-10; it is the first edition of the annual event of the Nobel Prize winning organization to be hosted in a Southeastern European country.

“I am happy to support this major event, both for Romania and for Europe, and for the whole world — the World Peace Forum — here, in Baia Mare. The World Peace Forum is an event held for several years now in various places around the world, initiated by the Schengen Peace Foundation. It is an initiative I support personally, but definitely also through my authority of mayor of the Baia Mare municipality (…) I think it’s very useful for Romania to host personalities who contributed in their countries to generate projects showing the world is working better in peace than in conflicts; there are outstanding personalities. There are 80 personalities from all over the world coming from Thursday on to Baia Mare for the weekend, to debate, to allow us knowing each other and to generate a wide platform for all this peace and understanding project means, between countries and small communities equally,” Chereches said.
