Weather Department issues “orange warning” for high temperatures

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued an “orange warning” for high temperatures during the early hours of Tuesday for the island`s western and northern coast, upgrading its earlier “yellow warning”.

According to a press release, from midnight tonight until 6am on Tuesday, the minimum temperature in these areas is expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorology Department explains that when the warning turns “orange”, the weather is dangerous, since unusual meteorological phenomena have been forecast. Moreover, it states that “damage and casualties are likely to happen” and cautions the public to be very vigilant and aware of the risks “that might be unavoidable”.

The “yellow warning” remains for the inland’a southern and eastern coasts, with 28 degrees Celsius.
