Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on Tuesday expressed concern about last week’s bomb attack on Rai investigative journalist Sigfrido Ranucci.

A one kilo bomb blew up the cars of Ranucci and his daughter outside their home south of Rome Thursday night.

“It is source of great concern that acts of intimidation against the free press can take place,” Parolin told reporters.

“We risk living in a climate of intolerance, where free expression is no longer accepted, more and more.

“We want everyone to be able to express their point of view with respect, with objectivity, without being the object of these kinds of threats.

“So we are really concerned about this and I would also like to say that we express solidarity with those who have been the subject of this intimidation.”
