Tripartite meeting between Cyprus-Greece-Israel takes place on Thursday

A Cyprus-Greece-Israel tripartite high level meeting takes place on Thursday in Nicosia.

Economy, energy and tourism are the main issues on the agenda of the meeting of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and the Prime Ministers of Greece Alexis Tsipras and Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.

President Anastasiades will receive in separate meetings the Premiers of the two countries and later on a tripartite meeting will take place, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of water resources. A joint declaration is also going to be adopted. The three leaders will then make statements to the press and attend a luncheon hosted by the President of the Republic.

Greek Premier, who held consultations with Netanyahu on Wednesday, in Israel, is accompanied by six Ministers.

Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said on Wednesday that the meeting is considered to be the culmination of efforts for cooperation among the three countries, which began in November 2014. Today`s meeting, he said, is expected to focus on very specific issues concerning energy, transports, tourism, water resources, and the broader financial sector.

He noted that a declaration will be issued at the end of the meeting. Furthermore, a special committee is expected to be set up to monitor the implementation of everything agreed on, so that there will be specific results by the next meeting in the next six months.
