Training ship Mircea to enter repairs after Navy Day celebrations

Romanian Navy’s training ship Mircea will enter repairs on a shipyard in the sea port of Constanta, after participating in the Navy Day (August 15) celebrations, says National Defence Minister Mircea Dusa.

“We have a special responsibility to the brig [the ship traditionally called this way is actually a three-mast barque — editor’s note] Mircea. Last year, we had in mind to perform repairs worth one million lei, and we have replaced the ropes and sails. Soon after the Navy Day, it will enter repairs in a Constanta shipyard, we’ll allocate another million lei, I believe; I should see the specialists’ assessments regarding these repairs. The point is we shall allocate this money to complete repairs on brig Mircea this year,” said Dusa, at the ceremony organized on the occasion of the arrival of Mircea in the Constanta Port, after participating in a training march.

According to the minister, a larger sum of money has been allocated this year to the practical training of the military. More…
