Traditional attire from Ohrid and Struga showcased at festival in Spain

Struga, 12 May 2026 (MIA) — Traditional attire from the Ohrid and Struga regions was showcased at the 6th Collectio-Indufest International Festival of Traditional Clothing in Zamora, Spain, MIA’s Struga correspondent reports.

Members of the Ilinden folklore ensemble from Struga brought five authentic folk costumes to the stage at the city’s Ramos Carrión Theater.

The presentation, titled “Ohrid and Struga: Ethnographic Pearls of the Balkans,” featured four women’s outfits and one men’s outfit. They represented the traditional clothing styles of the villages surrounding Ohrid and Struga as well as the Malesia village of Zbazhdi.

Ljupcho Milosheski, the ensemble’s choreographer, said the presentation included photos and videos to explain the making of the garments, the materials used to create them and the meaning of the different patterns.

“Compared to what people usually see in this part of Europe, our traditional costumes were truly unique,” Milosheski said. mr/
