Trade deficit drops by €117,5 mn in first four months

The trade deficit decreased by €117,5mn in the period January – April, and stood at €925,3mn compared to €1.042,8mn in the corresponding period of 2014, figures released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus showed on Thursday.

Total imports in January-April amounted to €1.595,0mn as compared to €1.535,0mn in January-April 2014, the Statistical Service said in its monthly publication “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for April 2015, adding that total exports in the same period were €669,6mn compared to €492,1mn in January-April 2014.

The trade deficit was €925,3mn in January-April compared to €1.042,8mn in the corresponding period of 2014, the Service added.

In April 2015 total imports valued at €438,2mn, while total exports, including stores and provisions, in the same month amounted to €150,4mn, the Service said.

Exports of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were €75,9mn whilst exports of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were €74,5mn, it said.
