Things stable, predictable in Romania, says Chamber Speaker

Romania is a stable country, with a new Government and certain predictability and transparency in its decisions, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea told a meeting with U.S. ambassador Hans Klemm and British ambassador Paul Brummell late on Wednesday.

When asked whether he tackled security issues in the talks with the U.S. and British ambassadors, Zgonea answered yes, adding such matters are part of the strategic partnership.

“The first pillar in the partnership with the United States and Great Britain is related to security. We are NATO members, the two partners are, of course, very attentive and this is also the mandate the two ambassadors have. Given the events currently under way in Europe, that make the situation of the stability and security of certain states fragile, it is important to us that we are the safest country in this area and we are a provider of security for the states in the area; so then, of course, I informed them that things are stable, predictable, are settled as they were during the [previous] PSD-UNPR-ALDE Government and we back this [new] Government in all that means measures and commitments that the Romanian state has made in various fields”, Zgonea explained.

The Speaker announced he had also had meetings with the ambassadors of Algeria and Russia. More…
