The national unemployment rate declines to 4.88pct in October

The national unemployment rate was 4.88pct at the end of October 2015, down by 0.01pct compared to September, and by 0.52pct year-on-year, according to data released by the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).

The highest levels of unemployment were recorded in the following counties: Teleorman (10.97pct), Mehedinti (10.95), Vaslui (10.45pct), Buzau (9.49pct), Dolj (8.93pct), Galati (8.87pct) and Olt (7.83), while Ilfov has the lowest unemployment level, 1.28pct.

In October 2015, the unemployment rate declined in 21 counties and in Bucharest and Valcea by 0,68pct, Covasna — 0.58pct, Vrancea — 0.48pct etc., and increased in 19 counties (Mehedinti — 1.17pct, Constanta—0.37pct, Dolj-0.26pct etc.). In Bucharest, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.01pct, and in Satu Mare it remained stable at 3.63pct.

Data provided by ANOFM show that in October there were 137,058 unemployed people living in urban areas, while 297,510 lived in rural areas.

The age group most affected by unemployment is the 40-49 age bracket, respectively 117,052 people, followed by those in the 30-39 age bracket (87,609 people) and youth below 25 years old (74,313 people). The 25—29 age bracket is the least affected by unemployment (32,866 people). More…
