The director of Psychiatry Clinic, Faton Kutllovci, shows how the workload affects mental health
Experiencing anxiety, stress and depression negatively affect mental health and they come as a result of mental fatigue in the workplace, stated the director of the Psychiatry Clinic at UCCK, Faton Kutllovci on World Mental Health Day.
Kutllovci tells KosovaPress that a research conducted by the Kosovo Nursing Chamber in 2022 shows that the level of stress has increased to about 25 percent, but this figure may have increased even more in the last two years.
“The most frequent reasons are the experience of anxiety and depression that can also come as a result of fatigue at work, and excessive workloads in the workplace can increase mistakes in the workplace, which will then have consequences also in the productivity of different companies or institutions. In Kosovo, in 2022, a research was carried out by the Kosovo Nursing Chamber and it resulted that the stress level is somewhere around 25 percent. These figures may be increased due to excessive experiences and commitments”, said Kutllovci.
In the Clinic of Psychiatry at UCCK, there is ward B, which treats anxiety disorders, depression, but also signs of disorders and fatigue due to experiences in the workplace and everyday life. According to Kutllovci, one must learn to manage stress.
“We have ward B or the ward for the treatment of non-psychotic disorders, where we usually treat anxiety disorders, depression, but also signs of somatic disorders and fatigue due to experiences in the workplace but also in life in general… Let’s try to manage the stress”, said Kutllovci.
According to the director of psychiatry at UCCK, the “bombastic” news is also affecting mental health. Kutllovci appeals to be careful in dealing with news about family violence, cases of murder and suicide, as we are dealing with very sensitive topics.
“I appeal to all the media which, in the case of broadcasting different news, at least try to do filtering because, of course, we are in favor of quick and fair information of the citizens, but we must be careful when broadcasting news whether for violence, aggressiveness, murder, suicide, etc., they should not come up with bombastic titles, but at least filter them to consider that reading or watching these shows, on different portals, will have a bad impact on everyone’s mental health”, he said.
According to the World Health Organization, the theme that has been selected this year is mental health in the workplace, which refers to constant stress. If you have a mental health problem, refer to a psychologist or psychiatrist.
