Romanian tennis player Florin Mergea and his doubles partner Rohan Bopanna (India) qualified on Thursday for the semi-finals of the 404.780-dollar Apia International Sydney tournament, by defeating all-Australian pair Sam Groth/John Peers, 6-2, 6-4.
Mergea and Bopanna, the competition’s fourth seeds, won the match in 56 minutes, despite a rain delay; they served eight aces.
The pair received 6,230 dollars and 90 ATP points and is due to face in the semi-finals South American pairing Thomaz Bellucci (Brazil)/Leonardo Mayer (Argentina). More…
