Simona Halep and Horia Tecau were named the best women’s tennis player, respectively the best men’s player in 2015 on Thursday evening, in Fratelli nightclub, during a gala organized by the Romanian Tennis Federation.
“We are glad to be in the presence of great champions, of sponsors who supported this sport. It was an extraordinary year, and tennis has drawn the lion’s share. We have suffered and we rejoiced, we shed a tear at the extraordinary successes achieved by Simona (Halep), Horia (Tecau), Florin (Mergea), by our players in general,” George Cosac , President of the Romanian Tennis Federation stated on the occasion.
In his turn, the president of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Alin Petrache, said: “We have girls and boys who are very good at tennis, but my biggest hope lies with participation in the Olympic Games in Rio. I have a strong tie with tennis. My grandfather has led this federation between 1969 — 1971, when Romania played in the Davis Cup final three times. I wish you that in Rio you will bring us joy with many medals.” More…
