Romania’s Ciamba, Montenegro’s Pejovic discuss latest developments in Montenegro’s accession talks with EU

The latest developments in the accession talks of Montenegro with the European Union were analysed on Thursday by State Secretary for European Affairs with Romania’s Foreign Ministry (MAE) George Ciamba and Montenegro’s chief-negotiator for EU Aleksandar Pejovic at a meeting on Thursday in Bucharest.

MAE reports in a press release that Pejovic was in Bucharest on a working visit.

‘Discussions focused on the latest developments in Montenegro’s EU accession talks. The Romanian official reaffirmed Romania’s firm political and technical support for Montenegro to keep up the pace of reform, congratulating Montenegro’s Government on its achievements. About the sensitive negotiating chapters 23 and 24 — democratic institutions, fundamental rights, judiciary reform, the fight against corruption and organised crime — the Romanian official voiced Romania’s readiness to transfer some of its expertise to Montenegro for accessing to the EU, depending on the actual needs of the country,’ says MAE.
