Romanian pairing Halep -Tecau wins in US Open mixed doubles event

Romanian tennis pairing Simona Halep – Horia Tecau started off on the right foot in the mixed doubles event of the US Open, the year’s last Grand Slam tournament, as it defeated Spanish double Arantxa Parra-Santonja/David Marrero, 6-1, 6-2.

For acceding to the second round, Halep and Tecau won 10,000 US dollars. Their next match will be against 8-seed Julia Goerges (Germany)/Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia), who defeated US pairing Victoria Duval/Christian Harrison, 6-1 6-1.

This was Halep’s first mixed doubles match, while Tecau is much more experienced, as he won the event at the 2012 Australia Open, paired up with US Bethanie Mattek-Sands. More…
