Romania to participate in Turin International Book Fair

Bucharest, May 12 /Agerpres/ – Romania will participate in the 37th edition of the Turin International Book Fair, held May 15-19, with a national stand featuring a diverse editorial selection and an engaging event programme, including personalities from both Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with the Romanian presence organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), through the National Book Centre, and the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice.

According to a press release ICR sent to AGERPRES on Monday, under the slogan La leggerezza del leggere – ‘The Lightness of Reading’, Romania’s stand will promote both contemporary Romanian literature and works by Romanian authors in fields such as philosophy, history and literary criticism, published in Italian over the past two years.

Books translated and published with the support of ICR’s Translation and Publication Support Programme, or initiated by Italian publishers, will be presented to the public through book launches, commentary sessions and discussions with readers. These events will feature authors, publishers, translators and a number of renowned guests.

Participants from Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Italy include writers, translators, editors, philologists, literary critics, historians, philosophers, journalists and representatives of Italian publishing houses. Romania’s presence at the Turin Book Fair is part of ICR’s strategy to support Romanian participation in relevant European and international cultural contexts and aligns with the promotion efforts of its Venice and Rome branches to advance Romanian literature in Italy.
