Rising Reinke: We wish to be Montenegro’s partner in developing its energy sector

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – U.S. Ambassador to Podgorica, Judy Rising Reinke, stated that the United States Government (USA) would like to be a partner in the future development of Montenegro’s energy sector.

A delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Montenegro, led by Rising Reinke, visited the Piva Hydropower Plant today.

According to a press release from Elektroprivreda (EPCG), Reinke toured the plant and learned more about the current condition and development plans of this significant hydropower facility.

Last year, HPP Piva completed a long-term modernization project that had been underway since 2005, which included a thorough overhaul of the control system, high- and medium-voltage switching stations, internal consumption systems, and monitoring systems.

EPCG reminded that HPP Piva would celebrate 50 years of successful operation next year, during which it has produced and delivered about 367,000 GWh of electricity to Montenegro’s energy system.

In discussions with EPCG management, Rising Reinke was briefed on the company’s key development projects, with particular focus on renewable energy initiatives.

“Potential partnerships and support from the U.S. in Montenegro were also discussed,” the press release stated.
