The Price Index of Construction Materials for the period January – December 2014 recorded an increase of 1,00% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to data released on Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
On December 2014 it reached 104,68 units (base year 2010=100,00), recording a decrease of 0,16% over the previous month.
The increase of the index in 2014 over the previous year is mainly due to the price increases of the following materials:
· Gravel and sand aggregate: 13,28%
· Crushed sand: 13,16%
· Crushed gravel: 12,29%
· Ready-mix concrete: 5,94%
· Portland cements: 5,21%
· Asphalt concrete: 4,80%
· Paints and solvents: 4,05 %
· Wardrobes, cupboards and benches: 3,29%
On the other hand, some materials recorded a decline in their prices compared to 2013. The most significant are:
· Building iron: -6,48%
· Marble: -5,37%
· Outlets, switches, fuses and insulators: -4,37%
· Aluminium doors and windows: -4,12%
· Granite: -4,00%
· Structural steel: -3,00%
