President Klaus Iohannis signed this week several ambassador appointments, giving his seal of approval to journalist and writer Emil Hurezeanu’s nomination as Ambassador of Romania to Germany, and to historian, essayist and politician Adrian Cioroianu taking over as Romania’s Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, the Presidential Administration announced.
In the same major diplomacy reshuffle move, as already announced, President Klaus Iohannis approved the nomination of former Romanian Intelligence Service director George Maior as Ambassador to the United States.
Mihnea Motoc was appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Bogdan Mazuru — Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria; Luminita Odobescu — Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Romania to the European Union; and Ion Jinga — Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Office.
