President Klaus Iohannis embarks on Wednesday on a two-day official visit to the Slovak Republic, where he is due to meet his counterpart Andrej Kiska and PM Robert Fico.
According to a statement by the Presidential Administration, talks with Slovak officials will tackle the main topics of current interest for the two countries, with a focus on intensifying bilateral economic cooperation, regional and European energy security, in particular in the context of developments in EU’s Eastern neighbourhood and from the perspective of the 2016 Slovak EU Council presidency. Other topics include security developments — with emphasis on NATO’s Eastern flank and the situation in the Eastern neighborhood, the migration crisis and coordination within the EU as well as regional cooperation.
In Bratislava, the head of state will have one-on-one meetings and official talks with the Slovak president, followed by a joint press conference.
Also on Wednesday, president Iohannis will participate in a luncheon held in his honour by the president of the National Council of the Sovak Republic Peter Pellegrini and will attend the opening of the Bilateral Forum for Romanian and Slovak businessmen, together with Slovak President Andrej Kiska.
The Romanian head of state will also hold talks with Slovak PM Robert Fico, and subsequently will meet with representatives of young Romanian professionals working in the Bratislava region. In the evening the Slovak president will hold an official dinner in honour of the Romanian president. More…
