AGERPRES special correspondent Florentina Peia reports: Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis and his wife, Carmen Iohannis, on Sunday laid wreaths and kept a minute’s silence to the memory of the victims of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, at the National September 11 Memorial, built at Ground Zero in New York, at the site of the destroyed Twin Towers.
The two laid red roses and white flowers on the inscriptions bearing the names Ana Fosteris and Corina Stan.
Pope Francis, who was paying a visit to the US, also visited the Memorial on Friday.
In 2011, ten years after the terror attacks of September 11, the Americans opened a memorial for the public, at the site of the destroyed Twin Towers. Huge fountains made of black stone with continuous water jets were setup on the foundations of the former towers. More…
