President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has pointed out that it is not enough to struggle for a solution of the Cyprus problem and that it was necessary for the people to understand that they are living in a European country and must coexist with the Turkish Cypriots, adding that a culture of coexistence and tolerance must be cultivated in the people`s conscience.
The President and the members of the Council of Ministers participated on Monday in an informal Cabinet meeting with secondary school students, organised at the Presidential Palace at the initiative of the Volunteer Commissioner, in the context of Citizen`s Day.
In the framework of the event, Ministers presented government policies, actions and programmes addressed to young people, with emphasis on changes to the education system, incentive programmes for soldiers, and programmes to reduce unemployment.
President Anastasiades and the members of his government had the opportunity to discuss problems faced by young persons, and answer questions.
The President noted that the discussion aimed at a fruitful dialogue, giving the opportunity to form a policy proposal for amendments to legislation, so that “we can be more effective and the dialogue with the society is more creative in addressing serious problems faced by youth.
