President and political party leaders to discuss developments in the Cyprus problem

Political party leaders will discuss on Tuesday developments in the Cyprus problem, during a meeting this morning under Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, to take place at the Presidential Palace.

Meanwhile, UN-led negotiations for the settlement of the Cyprus problem continue with intensive meetings between the negotiators of the two communities, Greek Cypriot Andreas Mavroyiannis and Turkish Cypriot Ozdil Nami, in view of the leaders` new meeting on September 14.

Mavroyiannis and Nami met on Monday and discussed the interpretation of some definitions/concepts in relation to the property issue. CNA has learned that the two negotiators will meet again on Tuesday and their meeting will last the whole day.

UN-backed negotiations between the leaders of the two communities, namely President Anstasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, resumed in May this year, with a view to find a political settlement to reunite the country under a federal roof.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
