President Anastasiades to participate in the Trilateral Summit of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt, in Cairo

President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades will travel to Cairo from Athens on Monday evening to take part in the Trilateral Summit of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.

During the Trilateral Summit, the fourth of its kind amongst the three countries, issues to be discussed include Energy, regional developments, EU-Egypt relations, developments on the Cyprus problem, as well as cooperation among the three countries in a number of areas, including agriculture, the environment, air transportation, sea transportation and commerce.

Two Joint Declarations of Intention are expected to be signed among the three countries on issues of environmental protection, sea transport and recreation cruises.

President Anastasiades will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides, Energy Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Transport Marios Demetriades, and Agriculture Nikos Kouyialis, as well as Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides.

On Tuesday morning, President Anastasiades will have a bilateral meeting with President of Egypt Abdel Fatah al Sisi, at the Presidential Palace in Cairo.

After the bilateral contacts, the three leaders will plant three olive trees in the garden of the Presidential Palace, as a token of the friendship and cooperation among the three countries.

The Trilateral Summit will then follow. Remarks to the press are expected after the meeting while a joint declaration on the results of the talks among the Governments of the three countries will be issued.

The Egyptian President will host lunch in honor of President Anastasiades and Prime Minister Tsipras.

On Wednesday morning of 12 October, the President of the Republic will have a new bilateral meeting with President Sisi during which issues relating to regional developments, EU-Egypt relations, Energy and Economy will be discussed.

An Agreement on Air Transportation will be signed between the two countries during the meeting.

The President of the Republic and the members of the Cypriot delegation will return to Cyprus on 12 October.

During the third Trilateral Meeting in December 2015, the leaders decided to set up a permanent consultation and cooperation mechanism between the three countries.
