PM Ponta welcomes Norwegian minister in charge with EEA and European affairs

Prime Minister Victor Ponta at the Victoria Palace on Wednesday welcomed Norwegian minister in charge with the European Economic Area and European Affairs Vidar Helgesen, who is paying an official visit to Romania. During the meeting, they highlighted the ascending presence of Norwegian investments in Romania in various areas, such as ship building, the oil and gas industry, IT, renewable energy.

“The two officials discussed about the modalities to further strengthen the political and development dialogue, the bilateral economic relations, at the end of 2014 the total value of the commercial exchanges between Romania and Norway having reached 675 million euros (with exports worth 575 euros and imports worth 100 million euros),” shows a Government release remitted to AGERPRES.

The Prime Minister voiced the appreciation of the Government of Bucharest for the support provided by Norway through the funds within the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in the current financial period, underscoring that through the promoted projects these contribute to the reduction of the economic and social disparities, to the development and consolidation of some long-lasting relations between the two countries, the cited source points out.
