Philharmonic concert featuring clarinet soloist Zdravko Angelov

Skopje, 18 January 2024 (MIA) – Led by Italian conductor Alfonso Scarano, the Philharmonic will perform a concert featuring clarinetist Zdravko Angelov as a soloist, continuing the orchestra’s “80 Years of Love” concert season.

The concert is titled “The Beginning” and starts at 8 pm, the Philharmonic said in a press release. The program consists of Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and “Pictures at an Exhibition” as well as Johannes Brahms’s “Clarinet Sonata Op. 120, No. 1” arranged by Luciano Berio.

Zdravko Angelov (b. 1978, Strumica) has been first clarinetist of the Philharmonic in the last 11 years.

Previously, he worked at the State Music and Ballet School in Skopje and collaborated with the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. He has won numerous awards and has performed at many concert venues and festivals.

Alfonso Scarano (b. 1968, Taranto) is Chief Conductor of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.

Previously, he was Chief Conductor of the Severočeská Filharmonie Teplice, Principal Guest Conductor of the Virtuosi di Praga, and Music Director and Conductor of the Toscana Opera Festival.

He has recorded under the Tactus (Respighi), Lupulus (Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti) and Triart (Schulhoff, Mahlerr) labels.
