The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, ambassadors and other international personalities operating in Kosovo, have paid homages to the grave of President Ibrahim Rugova, on the 18th anniversary of his death.
President Osmani said that they will preserve the alliances that Rugova has created to move towards his vision for a Kosovo in the EU and NATO.
“Today we commemorate the historical president of the Republic of Kosovo, President Ibrahim Rugova, the founding father and the architect of our country’s independence. The man who dedicates every day of his life to the freedom and independence of the country and works first and foremost with the people of Kosovo and secondly with our allies so that today we can enjoy this truth after the many sacrifices of our people. President Rugova succeeded in a difficult time for our people to build alliances that Kosovo still needs today, therefore today and forever we will preserve these alliances to move forward towards the full realization of the historic president’s vision for an independent, sovereign Kosovo, integrated in the EU, in NATO and in permanent friendship with the United States of America”, she said.
Meanwhile, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that they remember Rugova for his role and contribution to the internationalization of the Kosovo issue.
Leaders of the Democratic League of Kosovo also paid homages to the grave of former president Ibrahim Rugova.
