The National Gallery of North Macedonia has organized an exhibition to mark the 90th birth anniversary of Macedonian artist Risto Kalchevski. It will open at Daut Pashin Amam on Dec. 21 and close on Feb. 29, organizers said.
According to the National Gallery in a press release, Risto Kalchevski (1933-1989) was one of the leading Macedonian representatives of art informel.
Displayed for the first time in 1957 as part of a group exhibition, his works over the years have been described by critics as “synthetic cubism,” “calm lyrical abstraction,” “abstract naturalism” and “abstract conceptualism.”
The exhibition was curated by Maja Nedelkoska Brzanova and Maja Chankulovska.
