Skopje, 27 August 2026 (MIA) — Ana Pejchinova, Daniela Andonovska Trajkovska and Vladimir Jankovski are this year’s winners of the Macedonian Writers Association’s Linden Festival prose and poetry contest. They will read their award-winning works inspired by linden trees in blossom at a reading scheduled for Sept. 5 at the MWA, organizers said.

The reading will officially close the 30th Linden Festival, which opened June 20 with a ceremony for the MWA’s Literary Scepter Award for lifetime achievement. This year, the national award was given to Macedonian poet Risto Vasilevski and the international award was given to Bulgarian poet Roza Bojanova.

Тhirty-two anonymous entries — 26 poems and six short stories — were submitted to the Linden Festival contest. The winners were chosen by a jury consisting of Macedonian writers Iva Damjanovski, Nikola Madzhirov and Zharko Kujundzhiski, assessing the submissions independently.

MWA’s annual Linden Festival celebrates the blooming of linden trees. Traditionally, members of the MWA gather to read poetry under or in celebration of the blossoming trees every June.
