JABLANICA, October 9 (FENA) – The mine-suspected area of Slatina in Jablanica has been officially declared free of landmines, it was confirmed at a ceremony marking the completion of the demining project held in Jablanica.
The demining project was implemented with financial support from the Government of the United States, through ITF Enhancing Human Security, while the implementation was carried out by the Mine Detection Dog Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina (MDDC).
During the demining operations, 16 anti-personnel mines, 27 unexploded ordnance items, and 720 pieces of various ammunition were found and destroyed. A total of 1.57 million square meters of land was cleared, restoring safety for the local population and enabling the safe use of the area.
At the official ceremony held in the Jablanica Municipality assembly hall, attendees were addressed by the Mayor of Jablanica, Emir Muratović; Head of the ITF Office in BiH, Gregor Sančanin; Advisor to the Minister of Civil Affairs and Chair of the Demining Commission in BiH, Mijo Pranjić; and Director of the Mine Action Center in BiH, Enis Horozović.
On this occasion, Horozović presented a certificate to Mayor Muratović, officially confirming the completion of the MSP Slatina project and the declaration of this part of the municipality as free from mine risk.
