Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is counting on continued political and technical support from Cyprus, especially during this country’s presidency over the Council of the European Union in 2026, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic said during the meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides.
According to the press release from the president’s office, during his official visit to Cyprus Milatovic discussed with Christodoulides further strengthening of political and economic ties between the two countries.
Milatovic stated that Montenegro is counting on continued political and technical support from Cyprus, especially during Cyprus’ presidency over the EU Council in 2026.
Christodoulides, according to the press release, said that the first official visit of the President of Montenegro represents a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.
He welcomed the results Montenegro achieved in the previous period in the field of the rule of law, stating that Cyprus will continue to strongly support Montenegro as the most advanced country in the EU negotiation process.
