Kumanovo, 12 May 2025 (MIA) — The Kumanovo Theater will perform “Briar Rose” at the 24th Magic Curtain Children’s Theater International Festival in Trgovishte, Bulgaria, which runs May 12-17.

According to the theater troupe, since its premiere five years ago, “Briar Rose” has become the favorite play of Kumanovo children. The actors have also performed it several times abroad.

The cast consists of Vladanka Krstevski, Sanja Ruseska, Zharko Jovanovikj, Marko Trajkovikj, Nina Maksimova, David Ilikj and Vlado Dojchinovski.

The play’s director is Bojana Kraljevska. The story was adapted for the stage by Zoran Zafirovski.

“Being one of the oldest art forms, the fairytale is a need to soar above life through dreaming, daydreaming, imagination. Through its clear and firm ethical code — fighting the good fight; for justice, equality, love — it reveals and sheds light on core values of life,” Zafirovski said.

“The fairytale on the stage does not interpret, explain or prove. It whispers and dares, asks and provokes and, distancing us from life, talks to us about life. This is what our ‘Briar Rose’ is like,” he said. The set was designed by Krsto Bogojevski and the costumes were designed by Darko Ilievski. Aleksandar Mitrichki is responsible for the music.
